Tired of carrying 2x6 boards for levelling.

I'm tired of carrying two 2x6 boards for levelling my 5th wheel.,there a pain to carry, they sometimes slip when using two of them and occasionally warp.

Two questions:

What do people recommend as an alternative? I'm thinking something plastic easy to use and carry in the bed.

And does anyone think the boards are the best way to level?

  • I like the boards because I can put both the wheels on the board. Yes they warp and split. I may replace them with plywood which should not split or warp.
  • I have a 5 ft long piece of 3/4 plywood. Two pieces glued and screwed together equals 1 1/2 inch thick. It's about 10 inches wide and sitting on edge on a wheel hump and held against the side of the bed with a bungee.

I also have other 1 1/2 thick pieces that can go under one tire and a couple single 3/4 thick pieces. Also two 12 x12 pieces 1 1/2 thick for landing gear. Plywood is inexpensive and doesn't crack like 2x or 1x. I had interlocking plastic things that cracked and deformed on uneven ground.

That long piece of plywood has also been handy for helping slide heavy things from the front of my utility trailer up in to the truck bed.
  • I use Anderson Levelers and like them very much. I installed a large bubble level on my pin box so I just roll onto them until I'm level. What I like about them is I can control the exact amount of raising of the camper. Unlike with boards or lynx levelers where you are forced to raise or lower the thickness of what you're using. If you need to raise your camper 1/2" it's not that easy to do using any type of lego style leveler and to do it with boards you need a variety of different thicknesses.
  • I carried Lynx Levelers, two bags of them.

    They worked great.

My dad uses the Andersen levelers. He really likes them
