I'm wanting to order a new set of tires this weekend. I'm new to trailers and need some advice. My camper has a GVWR of 10,000 and D rated tires will cover this but after reading about all the blowouts I'm just a little nervous. I'm considering going to E rated tires and I'm sure that it will make the camper ride rougher but how much rougher. The E rated tires won't cost much more and I'm going to buy a quality tire that has a good reputation. I've read about a lot of you that have upgraded but haven't read anything about the difference in the ride. Is there a lot of difference, not much difference in the ride and would you upgrade to a heavier tire again?Thanks,Danny

What I noticed on the last trailer I did this was the ride firmed up quite a bit. Granted this was a TT not a 5er but I assume it will be similar. My tt always had a squishy feel that made it seem just a bit tail happy and with the stiffer tires and more air pressure it made the ride seem more planted. Theses were 225/75/15's. I am planning to do the same withing with my current 5er that has the same size tire very soon Chris

Went from D to E recently. Had a few things happen last trip which had no rhyme or reason for, nothing serious. Guess from 65 to 80 p.s.i ???Feel more secure with E rated.

I don't think there's a major difference in the ride either way but I have been running about 75psi instead of the full 80 just to soften the ride up a bit. I did notice on my previous TT that it did help take the sqirm out and towed more stable.I just liked the idea, as many others state, a little extra cushion for the load rating. I've switched to Maxxis E's on both trailers I've owned with no blowouts in the past 10yrs. I still keep my fingers and toes crossed though !!

With that GVWR, defiantly an E rated tire for me.

Nothing says you have to pump the E's up to 80 psi. As long as you're going E's I'd get an LT truck tire. Michlin XPS Ribs are a great choice. You'll never worry about your tires again.
