Too Tall ?

My Sabre 5th Wheel is 12'7" and I've got a front AC and Vent Covers that are each about 10".

That makes the total height at 13' 5" . Am I going to have trouble with bridges??

Thanks!

Ron

  • Thanks for the tips! I was adding the vent cover to the tape measured distance from the ground, but didn't think about hooking up to the truck for a more accurate measurement. Good idea!

I added the vent cover(s) and the front AC, which it was wired for, the main AC is lower as it is near the rear of the unit.

Do this with it hooked to your truck for a accurate measurement.
  • I would figure out what the actual height is and not relying on a brochure. Go from there.

Stay on the freeways, that's tall for sure, about a foot taller than most motorhomes.

Well let's see......how do you get to anyplace useful without getting OFF of the freeways ?? ;)

Places with a clearance less than 14 feet are supposed to be clearly marked. You are close enough that you will need to be VERY careful.

I think you should get a long tape measure and be sure what your highest point really IS. In some situations, a couple of inches could make a BIG difference.

When I was involved with house transports, we would carry two 7 foot pieces of PVC and a coupler. If there was any question, we would STOP and get out the "clearance pipe" and be sure.

Where are you getting the numbers from ? If the paperwork, that number will INCLUDE the AC shroud . .

  • The 18-wheel truck trailers are usually 13' 6", so if you are on a road that they use then you should be OK.
