Took the Challenger in for new front A/C. . . UPDATE

and. . .bought a new Jayco Pinnacle 31 RETS!!

The Challenger is a bunkhouse model, and we have absolutely loved having it, but the 17 year-old DD no longer travels with us, so DH and I bought something for US!! We do our PDI, transfer all our "stuff," and bring it home next Monday!! I am sooo excited, but a little sad, too.

Its maiden voyage will probably be the first part of June, when we travel from West Texas to Connecticut.

  • Dang, sorry to hear about your bad luck, but at least you guys were not hurt. Hopefully they will get your new rig fixed up good as new.

    Safe travels.

We got the Pinnacle home the end of October (almost 5 months to the day), just in time to winterize it!! I am sooooo itching for warmer weather and a trip!!

Winterize in Texas?????? We camp year round.

A little update: After telling our dealer we wanted to keep our Goodyear Marathon tires (2-3 years old)rather than the Chinese tires that were on the new Pinnacle, we made our trip to Connecticut. BUT, we didn't even make it to Arlington (from Lubbock area), TX before the first blow-out. New tire, and hit the road again (after losing a day in Sherman). Second blow-out just inside the Ohio state line. We then bought another set of new tires. This time, we went with truck tires. I think God has a sense of humor, laughing at us because we wanted to keep our "good" tires!! At least the blow-outs didn't do any damage to the new 5er!! BUT, we DID take out a retaining wall in Dallas, coming home, and now the 5er is back at the dealer for repairs -- took out the whole driver side of the RV. BUT, no one was injured or killed, and no other cars were involved, which, on I-30 could very easily have happened!!

AND. . .this week, we found out that while at the dealer for damage

repairs, the passenger side received hail damage!!! OY!!!

Those Goodyear Marathons are just another cheap Chinese ST tire with a not so good reputation. You did the right thing getting rid of them.

Yep; we had about 4-5 feet snow that lasted about 6 weeks. I noticed this morning, leaving church, that the house across the street STILL had snow drift in the front yard. The "blizzard" happened right after Christmas.
  • Gotta love Texas weather, forgot about the upper reaches of the 'Handle.
  • Well it depends on what they got to replace the POS Goodyear tires. ME, I would go with michelin LTX 16" tires and NEVER worry about a tire blow out..

yeah in know it not a ST tire but read on airforums.com about all the folks that have made the change and how their life is much happier and SAFER when getting rid of the Goodyears, guranetted to blow out, tires.. it's not if, its WHEN, and how much damage is done to you and/or RV.

nice to hear you'll are OK.. :)
