If you find a FW that may work, a light weight Andersen Ultimate hitch would be a good option. About 37 lbs, and maybe better cab clearance.

Yea GREAT ADVICE
That way when you were involved in an accident( because you have to try and stop suddenly) because of an emergency( and of course you won't be able to) and you get into a wreck .
Then you can buy a real truck with a real Strong Hitch next time:E
Bad Idea------- I Would not even consider going that big of a fifth wheel that heavy with a half ton truck.
no for me !!!!!!
Just a heads up bfast54,
I was not recommending to use the trailer OP was asking about. I have no personal experience with the Andersen hitch, but many on here, are towing quite heavy with this hitch. It is a good option, compared to a heavy hitch, when getting close to payload max.
As to stopping, the OPs NEW 1500 GM will likely stop quicker than your OLD truck, that likely has inferior brakes.
Drive/tow safe,
Jerry
