What is 'most' on the internet is most people claiming something is the law and not having a clue about what they're talking about nor having ever read a single statute. The link above has all the state statutes.
I'm thrilled that folks posted links to their State statutes, at least...who knew?
Seems to me that just the fact that at least two States do have such restrictions ought to serve as enough evidence that others probably do, too.
Certainly a good heads up to prudent planners that if contemplatng double-tow it's wise to check the rules along the intended route before heading out.
