I had no idea why it was so hard to backup. The kid directing me on my side at the back kept telling me to keep coming. It was at the end of the day and tired from all the BS at DRV.

Looking back it's quite funny.

They did refund my 1/2 the nights stay! It was the last site available. They for sure had a water leak and covered the soft ground with fresh gravel. The drivers side did not sink as bad. I was backing and I really had to push the go pedal. Finally dropped it into 4 low. Got out and went holy &$#* !

Lowest on pole over any travelway is tv cable at 13' 9". If it sags, and you snap it....not your fault. If you hit one in a driveway or parking lot you have no business being in....you might get a bill.


Twenty plus years driving Semi. I have pulled more than one from a house.

I have even had a police officer skipping and dodging the wires when they snapped (he was insisting I take the detour down the residential street)..he said "KEEP MOVING DRIVER--NOT YOUR FAULT IF THEY ARE LOW"---even as homeowners came out of their houses to see what was going on, as I snapped three or four on that street..

Couple complaints to my company...all referred to the services provider. Neither I, the company, or our insurance paid a dime.

That entire street probably hates me/the company.

13-6 only had 2 issues so far. Looking for the Delta Blues Museum in Clarksdale Mississippi and found a RR underpass at 12ft xxin. Another low one in Tulsa OK getting under I-44 at maybe Yale.

At 13'5" we've not had any issues. Even low train overpasses in two small towns (one in North Carolina, one in New York) that were labelled 13'6" were plenty tall. The posted clearances are the minimum clearances and the rest of the overpass tends to be higher. A standard 53' semi-trailer is 13'6" to 14' tall, so I do four things while driving: 1) use an RV GPS with my rig parameters in it; 2) watch the clearance signage like a hawk; 3) watch for tractor trailers - both in front of me and coming the other way (if they can do it, I can, too); and 4) move to the inside lane for arched tunnels and overpasses. One caveat to keep in mind is that clearance signs aren't always changed after roads are resurfaced (often laying new asphalt over an existing repaired road surface which can raise the road level several inches).

I did buy this database, but not the lifetime version. It does work as advertised, and I do like it. I've not had to amend my route to avoid any of the alerts, but I have been alerted when I've passed near them. It works very well, and you can set the height that you wish to be alerted about.

Now a caveat: when they talk about 8,000 low clearances they are referring to all low clearances, which include ones that are less than 11 feet. Now you can imagine there are large numbers of clearances less than 11 feet. The clearances that concern most of us are the ones less than 13 feet. There are only about 1100 of these. So while they talk about 8,000 points, less than 1500 actually are some to be concerned with.

The one time download is worth the price of admission. IMO anyway.

I feel the same way about many campgrounds. You can check in, but you can't check out without lopping a few limbs.
