I am just finishing a 7000 mile trip w/ the hitch still slid back, still no problem. It handles fine. Trailer is about 11K loaded. I am not reommending this to anyone, just passing it along to let others know it is possible.
I have towed our Daughters camper with our hitch locked back. No issues and truck does not set any different. Some will scream the sky if falling. But like you no issues and hers is a big camper.
