Tow hitch question

We have a 2026 Honda Passport Trailsport with an electronic parking brake. We have to hitch up where the car is on a tiny bit of a slope but enough to make the car rock back when hitching up. Any tips on how to not have it rock back? Also, once I get it hitched up and take the parking break off will it push it back and affect the connection in the coupler? I am thinking I can just pull the chocks back a bit? We have a Retro 135 so it is a small trailer but I want to make sure I get the coupler sitting correctly on the hitch. Thanks for any advice.

  • If this is an actual question, I may question your vehicular abilities to the point that even towing a small trailer is suspect.
However, either hit the p brake before putting in Park or once in position in reverse or neutral, shift to drive with foot on brake then to park. That usually takes the slop out and no roll back.

  • put the e-brake on before you put it in park.  shouldn't rock at all then

  • Once you lower the coupler onto the ball and get the latch in the “closed” position you should be good to go. The thing is, you may need to close the coupler latch then pull the vehicle forward ever so slightly in order to get the coupler to latch completely. You can double check the connection by raising the trailer with the tongue jack while coupled and latched to the vehicle and ensuring it stays completely coupled to the vehicle while raising the vehicle and trailer at the same time.
