No adjustment of your sway will help.
That is way to much trailer for that truck.

Yup. The only way to get enough tongue weight to keep the trailer under control is too grossly overload the truck. That trailer should have a loaded tongue weight around 1,800 pounds. With Toy Haulers, sometimes filling the water tanks is required to maintain tingue weight when there are toys in the back.

Only way to answer all of your questions, get weights on everything. Loaded and unloaded.
  • Go to the scales and get a weight on your trailer loaded and also a tongue weight. My bet is your way to light on tongue weight.
  • Just a couple of item to look at:

Looking at a couple of websites the Gross weight on that trailer is around 11,000#. 10% is 1,100# tongue and 15% is a 1,650# tongue weight.

    Ford tow ratings

Towing at 70 mph? The tires that come standard on most trailers are only rated for 65 mph max.

Sorry to say but based on what you have said and looking at the numbers, you need a smaller trailer or a bigger truck.
  • I'm going to throw some stuff against the wall and see if it sticks...

Is the sway control on the truck turned 'on' or 'off'? Change is and see if it makes a difference. I remember there being the option to turn on/off while the truck is parked.

Location of the water tanks. Try filling one that is in front of the trailer axles. For example, my fresh is directly above the axles, then my black, then my grey being closest to the tongue. Add water to the appropriate tank to increase the tongue weight.

Are you returning the proper weight to the front axle of the truck, and not too much (or not enough)? I had the E4 on my trailer when I towed with a '97 GMC K1500. It was rock solid (handled slightly better than with my 3/4-ton now without WDH).

Truck and trailer tires filled to max sidewall pressure.
