Can this combination work? My wife and I have been looking at toy haulers(to haul my motorcycle & kids bikes) while my parents have been looking at new horse trailers. They have offered to split a trailer with us which would allow us to have a larger trailer. I have seen a very nice horse trailer with living quarters but would like something with more living space. Would a 5th wheel toy hauler be ok to haul 1-2 horses in? We would prefer the trailers with the glass divider between the cargo area and the living area to cut down on smell. I haven't even begun to shop for something like this since we were looking at smaller toy haulers, but if we split with the parents, we would like to be under the 45-50k range. Is it possible to find this that could handle what we are looking for?Any advice or help is appreciated!

You might be able to haul a horse in the back of a toy hauler, but how would you secure it? In a horse trailer, they are built stalls designed for horses, usually narrow, where the horses have a certain element of support and confinement. You'd have to build such a configuration in the back of your toy hauler. It might be easier to just stick with a horse trailer with living quarters. As far as your question, yes, there are models "out there" with divided garage from living quarters with wall. Some wall are even designed to unlatch and swing completely out of the way. Personally, I'd stick with a toy hauler for your toys, and let your parents stick with a horse trailer. I think it's probably safer for everyone and for the horses. There's nothing wrong each family having their own privacy you know!

Yes, we would need to construct something for the divider if they would take both horses. We were thinking about splitting the trailer between the 2 families because neither of us will use it a whole bunch.

A horse trailer can haul toys just fine. I wouldn't haul a horse in a toy hauler however.

Our toy hauler has a sliding glass door that separates garage and living area. I do not notice any odors from toys when the door is closed and toys are in garage, however I would wonder if your horses would be as odor friendly rather in or not. Do you think there will be enough ventilation for the horses while traveling? I do not know anything about the requirements of horses while traveling, just wondering! Also, for me anyway, I would consider if hauling horses in a toy hauler would have a negative effect on resale of the r.v.?

Can't really tell if your joking or serious. If serious, I would recommend a head examination... LOL

THis whole thread has got "bad idea" written all over it. I grew up with horses and they are wonderful animals, but when owners start thinking like this I have to wonder who's got the higher IQ.

They do make horse trailes with attached living quarters for this purpose.

Please do would not take much for a horse to go thru a wall on a toy hauler. Floor would not be suitable either.

Don't even think about putting a horses in a toy hauler bikes in a horse trailer would be okay. I've seen them kick the******out of a steel trailer before I think one could go right though toy hauler!

If you plan on hauling horses, you need to be looking for a living quarter horse trailer. There is no way a toy hauler is structurally strong enough to handle a moving weight shifting kicking 1000 lb horse never mind hauling two of them. On the other hand, a living quarter horse trailer can typically handle the hauling of toys. Back when we showed horses we had a LQ 3 horse trailer. We hauled horses and when not showing ATVs, golf carts, motorcycle and kayaks. It was built completely different than a toy hauler. We no longer show horses , but still enjoy camping so we traded for a fifth wheel. Still have the horses, but just have a small 2 horse trailer now to move them about.

They have now horse trailers with living quarters and slide outs. Really nice trailer.

I've hauled lots of horses. I have a proper horse trailer. I wouldn't move a horse in anything but a proper horse trailer. You have to remember you are moving a live animal and you do not want to have any problems. It is a real PITA if one goes down on you, believe me! I would prefer to own a horse trailer with living quarters, and then haul your toys, as others have said. Some of those trailers are very nice. You should have a look. JMHO. Cheers!!
