My first you hauler was a 2008 27 foot bumper pull advertised as a half ton towable and 5,500 dry (yellow stickers said 5,500). There's no way. I pulled with my 03 Chevy 6.0, my tuned 6.0 powerstroke, my stock 08 Duramax, my buddies built 95 powerstroke, and his built 00 powerstroke. Nothing pulled it well and my Ford 3/4 it squatted like I had 2,000 pounds of rock in the bed. I never had weighed, but the pin weight has to be over 1,500 pounds (the rear wheels were further back than most bumper pulls) and I guess it was 8,000 dry.
My current 13 21 foot is listed at 5,200 dry and I feel that's about right.
There should be a standard where every trailer is weighed by the dealer with all options. Clearly there's not.
