Trail Air hitch install @ Camping World

I just received my Trail Air pin box, I had thought about doing the install myself but after struggling just to slide it out of the way after the truck delivered it that's not going to happen :-) The problem is I don't have anyone to help me do it, and there is no way I could even lift it up on the bed of the truck

What do you guys think Camping World would charge to do the job?

I'm thinking it should be about two hours labor, what are your thoughts?

Thanks

Ron W.

I did see the prior post on hitch install but mine is just a pin box, taking old box out and installing new one.

  • I have had a few back surgeries I went to harbor freight and bought an electric hoist for hanging my deer when hunting. but found I can put my 5th wheel hitch in by myself with it also I made a special strap to pick it up back up close and drop it down into place you might look into that a good investment in your back.
  • Friends had problems with 5er hitting the cab. Camping World at Belleville, MI replaced the original hitch with a slide hitch and took them a couple of hours since the original hitch was rusted pretty bad they had to cut the bolts off to get it out. They did a great job and he says the 5er tows super now.

I would think that if you called them and told them the situation that they would give a ball park figure..that may get you close? Not sure they could give a definite answer without looking at it, too many variables . Same as us here on the forum.... Joe

  • Not sure what they would charge, but me and DH rented a heavy duty engine hoist from a local rental company. Had the old hitch out and new one in, in about 30 minutes. Cost us around $45.
