I love how the ones that DON'T own one has so much to say. Everything they say is second hand as far as I'm concerned. I've had my Solitude for almost three years and couldn't be happier. We just got back from a two month, 10,113 mile, 38 state road trip. My biggest problem, I broke off the foot pedal on the toilet. And now snow birding in Arizona till April.
I surely wouldn't be bad mouthing the other brands just because I didn't have one.
The grand design of "things":
Owners/lurkers may or may not "bad mouth", but for sure.....
Trailer Life is *NOT* going to "bad mouth" *ANY brand!..:S
Don't have one, and TL's award (or whatever) wouldn't influence my decision whether to purchase (any brand) or not.
Hope that those are happy - stay happy.
Hope those that have problems - get them resolved to their satisfaction!..:C
~ - Coach-manExplorerRead the threads, ALL manufacturers have issues, some more than others! The point is what happens to you the consumer after you have spent your money? Grand Design has demonstrated over and over again, that they care about the people who have spent their money on a Grand Design product! Weather you like or dislike a particular feature is not the issue. That is your choice, but at least here on this topic Grand Design deserves the accolades given!
- alboyExplorerI doubt most owners would complain if the Mfgs would step up and look after the customer, as it would appear GD does.Great service goes a long way in my book.
- goducks10ExplorerJust go read the GD owners forum. There's 1st hand knowledge there. They have just as many or just as few issues as the rest. Depends on who is replying at the time the question about quality is asked.
- topjimmyExplorerYou still did not dispute what they are lacking,And it is not just second hand Knowledge of them I go out with my friends 10+ times a year with their GD's So Yes I know them VERY well(they both have 369rl's) that they bought from Paul Everett's in Tacoma(which they Hate)good thing for GD's good customer service and also I am not bashing them,I do like them and think they are nice 5er's but they are just lacking in a few area's that's all I'm saying,If they would at least step up to a 12in frame and have better electronics and a central vac system,4 step entry and the nice Mor-ryde 4100 suspension and Mor-ryde pin box instead of the cheaper Equa-flex and Roto-flex other brands put on their Mid Level 5er's I would have bought one

B.O. - topjimmyExplorerBetter at what? besides their good customer service what else makes them better than anybody else???? it is not their build quality both my friends have been back to the dealer many times and I gave you a few examples of what they are lacking compared to the competition,Whatcha got?? remember I have 2 friends with them and know them very well and even they concede they have a few things to catch up on but they still like them and so do I but facts are facts,I'll give GD one thing they are on a 101in frame Like Jayco Pinnacle 102in and that gives ya a little wider hallway into the bedroom and a couple of inches wider in the basement storage and that is nice

One of the main reasons Grand Design is the best! - topjimmyExplorer:hGo ahead and look at one, they are no more "amazing" than any other brand in IMO and in fact less so ,I know 2 people with them and I like them fine but I don't get the Hype with this brand,I know them well and if they were so Amazing I would have bought one when I bought a new 5er this year, they could at least ditch their dated 10in frames on the Solitudes and cheap Electronics among other things they cheap out on compared to other brands in their price range,
