Grand Design, new design!

Do away with flip up bed and fold down sofa with drawers in back slideout and add computer desk with overhead storage. In bunkhouse area get rid of the outside kitchen and get rid of top and bottom bunk beds and add overhead storage with double bed below. Take away front entry steps. Make area to add batteries for solar over axle or somewhere to balance, at least 8 batteries. Do away with pet dish and run a propane hose to that area with disconnect for Buddy Heaters. If possible make the rear end shorter with a slide out on end. Free standing kitchen table and chairs on all.

Now with these changes if done would be the perfect RV for me. What ya'll think?

    Actually, there is a way to do it but with a hitch. They use Reflexic insulation but it really only works well above 70 degrees.
    While it doesn't do much of anything in the cold, it does give it's rull insulative value in the heat.
  • hahahaha Classic... I always laugh when I see R-40.....R-13 is common for homes, and most of them have 3.5-5.5 inch thick walls,.
    Ya ya modern advances in insulation.... BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

    The R-30 and R-40 are in the floor and roof - not the walls...

    How can you not get a R-7 in the wall?

    The pink foam is R value of five per inch so an inch and a half gap would be R-7 1/2
  • Solid foam board is R-5 per inch of thickness.
    High end foam board is R-10 at 1-3/4", and R-12 at 2 1/8 " thick

    Fiberglass is rated at R30 @ 10"

    The floor and roof of the Grand Design Imagine series is in fact around 10" thick and there is mostly foam in the roof. They can accurately claim R30 and R40 values.

    But in reality, I have found their use of insulation EXTREMELY sloppy in the roof and floor. Huge gaps all over the place. And the roof also has many passages that de-rate the insulation average effective value.


    So yeah they can claim R30/R40 because they technically have the thickness...but it is absolutely a marketing gimmick.
