Because I have a hard time looking over my shoulder I place a magnetic stick (purchased at Camping World) on the center of the hitch plate which is visible in the mirror. I can then easily center the hitch on the king pin as I back up to the RV. The mag stick gets pushed off the plate just as the king pin contacts the jaws of the hitch... works every time! As already mentioned, TRIPLE check everything.
Those magnetic sticks are handy.
