Transporting 5th Wheel cross country- Qustions ?

We are moving from Wisconsin to the upper Peninsula in Washington next month. Its a 2200 mile drive, which would be fine as we have done it before. However, hubby just had surgery and wont be up to making the long trip, much doing the majority of the driving.

We need to find transporters for our heavy 1 ton dulley and a cross country RV transporter.

I looked online for RV transporters, there are so many, hard to tell who is reputable and fairly priced.
I'm cringing at what the price is going to be.

Anyone have a hauler they have used for their RV in the past?

Thanks

  • I agree with Atom. Try to get someone you know to help out. Ask your insurance company if they can temporarily add someone to your auto policy if that would even be required at all. All of this has to be cheaper than $4000+.
  • Because you already have the truck, couldn't you get a relative or friend to drive it out and fly it back. I think in the summer I would have plenty of volunteers that wouldn't mind making a vacation out of it.
  • Buck a mile, plus an airline ticket and expenses, and I'll drive it out for you.
  • Why not just sell it and buy another when you get settled in. $4,000 or so is a lot to spend to get an older rig out there.

  • We were quoted $2.00-$2.50 per mile about a year ago when we wanted to move the new 5er and our truck was out of commission for the delivery day. We did not use anyone as the truck was fixed in time but those were the numbers they gave us as a starting point.
