Tripod brace for 5th wheel...really necessary?

If I had children I would use one and flag it. I always unhook and have seen kids runnung under the nose so I would back the truck under far enough to keep the kids from smackin their heads. That could get serious. As for the movement. Not needed, for me anyway.
