I was carrying a step ladder right behind the hitch, and after making 350 miles I watched it fly out, and get ran over. Guess I won't do that again, without tying it down. If you have a auto slide hitch such as Pullright you do have to be more careful.
If it is light enough it will leave the bed behind the hitch if not tied down .
