Truck bed stuff

What (if anything) can I haul in my truck bed without worrying about interference with the 5th wheel hitch? Thanks

Yep, and I have scars on the cap to prove it. Also, when on uneven ground like driveways, the truck can come up and and fiver nose goes down, making it even worse.

We carry some poles for bird feeders. I lay them in bed beside hitch, and other things in front of hitch. I was carrying a step ladder right behind the hitch, and after making 350 miles I watched it fly out, and get ran over. Guess I won't do that again, without tying it down. If you have a auto slide hitch such as Pullright you do have to be more careful.

If it is light enough it will leave the bed behind the hitch if not tied down .
  • Fire wood, air compressor, mice chest, extra pop to name a few.

I always thought this was a neat setup for additional storage boxes... The problem of course is how to lock up the truck bed when unhooked from the trailer.

The locking FOLD-A_COVER idea would work great where all of the folding panels would stack up behind the rear window and not interfere with the fifth wheel hookups.

Pretty much anything in front of the hitch as long as it doesn't stick up high enough to make contact with the fifth wheel when turning. Anything that sticks up high enough behind the hitch can come in contact with the hitch ,and pin box when turning. Also anything that is not pretty heavy has the chance of blowing out of the bed.
  • Just about anything in between the hitch and the cab that sits below the rail. You don't say if you have a short bed or long bed truck. The later gives you more room. You can squeeze some stuff next to the hitch and in front of it. There are some boxes designed to go in front of the hitch.
