The Dually option for my recently ordered 15 RAM cost me $1,020. Pretty darn cheap!
Now what does it cost to change from 17" E's to 19.5 Rickon's with tires????
I get factory tow rating north of 28K. Payload around 6K and SAE J2807 to back it all up. I have towed both SRW and DRW's and there is no comparison. DRW is effortless towing!
I could have bagged and 19.5 my 98 2500 RAM to tow our current Mobile Suites but I know it would not be safe. No Bandaids for me!
Whatever works for you (and your wallet) is cool..:C
You just selected a different "Bandaid".
How much was the "option" for the rest of the truck?..:B
(Bet you also got bigger brakes than a SRW, right?)
How much does it cost to go to 19.5"?
If you *really* want to know, Google is your friend..:S
But tell it like it is!!
IIRC - you're in CA - the cost of five 19.5" wheels and tires for your former ride is *less* than the
*sales tax* you paid for your 2015 truck!
Yep it is what is! - You can't "opt out" of that option.
If I towed heavy, (like your MS) it would be a "true" MDT or preferably a "singled" HDT.
(The HDT can be registered as a MH in CA - and many other states).
For daily driving, there is NO comparison between a DRW and SRW pickup - SRW wins!
Hope the supposed "effortless towing" is not the rationale for a new truck - I have had both and towed the same 5th with both .....effortlessly also..;)
BTW - don't know what your rated payload is, but be worth your reviewing "Who must stop at scales in CA" - might be an unwelcome surprise!..:(
See section: "Do These Vehicles Have To Stop At Scales""If the
pickup has a GVWR of 11,500lbs or more .....etc..... it is required to stop at the weigh stations"..:(
