That sounds reasonable but I don't think so. I can go inside, leave my card and fill my tank with over the $100 limit with no issues. If it was worry about fraudulent transactions reimbursement, then it shouldn't work then either. They simply wouldn't allow any charges more than their reimbursement limit.
