Truth or Myth? Day/Night Pleated Shades

We were told to keep our pleated window day/night shades UP because otherwise they would "lose their pleats? Is this true??????? We are concerned about keeping their UP as it could fade furniture and wood.

What do YOU do?

  • We keep ours down while traveling and when the unit is in storage. While the unit is in storage having the day/night shades down prevents sunlight from discoloring furniture and/or carpeting.
  • We keep ours up when traveling and only use the day shades the rest of the time except in the bedroom where the night shade is down all the time. No problem with our pleats.
  • Day-night shades in RV are down when unit is not in use. No problem with pleats after six years. At home, day-night shades in one room are down every night. No problem with them after ten years
  • We use ours all the time.about the only thing that will sooner or later be done is to restring them with a better string.
  • What? No. Ours are always down when we're not there because of the same fading concerns you have. The pleats are as good as new, and some are in direct sun.
