Pennsylvania requires inspection on any trailer over 3000# (they require brakes at that point). Not really a big deal. The truck has to be inspected too, so I just drag the trailer down to the mechanic shop with it.
Money hungry???? Of course the states are money hungry. All that free money everyone wants for their pet project or to supplement their "whatever" is NOT free. Government produces nothing, therefore they never make money----they only spend it.
That has nothing to do with the safety of vehicles on the road. State makes a few bucks, mechanic makes a few bucks....just the cost of owning an RV.
There is a post on this very site asking about "Bleeding air breaks"----I am thankful our state makes a qualified person look at vehicles registered in our state.
