As has been mentioned, the 8 speed tranny is supposedly a game changer. The new 6.4 and 8 speed combo's are rated up into the 16k range on tow cap.
A diesel may beat you in a drag race up a steep mountain, but how often do you race them up mountains?
And I don't know what kinds of punitive measures governments will take against diesels, but you can bet they are cooking some up.
