If you are going to use these charts to determine what pressures you need, you will also need to know exactly how much weight your tires are carrying. Due to their layouts, many rigs have substantial differences in left to right loading. My unit is a good example. It was weighed at the factory and came with a sheet giving actual UVW, pin, left and right side weights. Empty, my left side tires are carrying 600 lbs more than the right side and as most of the interior storage is also on the left side, that is probably more like an 800 lb difference loaded. This means that each left side tire would be carrying 400 lbs more than each right side tire with the trailer loaded. Just dividing the weight carried by the axles by four and using that to determine tire pressure from a chart could put me in an unsafe condition.
I use sidewall pressure for my E rated tires and as long as they wear evenly, I'll be happy to take the extra load capacity it gives.
Well said. It's silly to try to dial in exact tire weights to all 4 tires. Each tire would need to be filled differently.
I air to maxc PSI. I will take all the added capacity I can get.
Wear has not been an issue for me.
