- fj12ryderExplorer IIII say axle right under the spring hangers/U-bolts. Other people have varying opinions.
I do it this way because I see no sense in trying to carry jacks tall enough to lift the frame, no sense in trying to carry the necessary cribbing to do the aforementioned, and jacking under the axle at the spring hangers is quicker and looks to do no damage. I jack the wheel up just high enough to change the tire, and I just can't see how it can damage anything.
That's my opinion, and that's how I've done it in the past. - HappyKayakersExplorer

X2. Had a tire service come out to change my tire on the side of the road once and that's also where they jacked. They needed to use 2 jacks because the axle was drooping so low. The first jack got the axle up high enough to put another bottle jack under the spring shackle. - the_bear_IIExplorernever the axle...spring plate or frame.
Best method is to use something like this which is a lot easier and quicker:

X3. This way the trailer is hardly lifted whereas jacking under the frame requires a LOT of lift.

May not work on my triple axle, or do you have to have 2 of them. :)

Don't know about triple..best guess is it won't work
I do know it won't work on my double axle 5vr.
Can't get enough lift to raise the other axle/tire off ground
I jack under axle right where the springs are attached.......all of the trailer weight is suspended/support at that location on each axle so my jacking p wheel there is not going to hurt anything.
Besides.....I would have to build crimping 12" high in order to use a jack on frame. And that AIN'T happening on the side of the road!
OP......re: your other earlier post in another section of forum
IF it was that big of a deal........moderator will move the post. - laknoxNomad

And which a lot of people say will overload the good tire. Hmmmm... I still say that, if the axle is strong enough to hold the springs, it's strong enough to jack there.
Lyle - Ziphead2Explorer III have a double axel

What is the best location to jack up a 5th wheel to change a tire! Axel or frame?
Axel. As close to the wheel as possible.
Or if you have a leveling system, let it take the wheels off the ground. - rtazz17ExplorerAnother vote for axle.
