It helps a lot to keep the slide rollers lubricated. I can simply move the locking lever to the maneuver position and use the brake controller to lock the 5er brakes then pull forward and the hitch slides into the locked maneuver position. I always visually confirm that the locking lever is fully seated in the maneuver position before pulling away. This is with my Reese 16k square tube slider.
