I would imagine that the switch just reverses voltage, running the motor the opposite of when it comes in. So you could try reversing the switch wiring to see if that would make a difference, or check the motor where the wires connect and see if you have power on both wires when operating in and out. I agree that it's either the motor or the switch. Could be something as simple as a loose connection.
