warramty work on new 5th wheel

I purchased a new 2014 Columbus 373rl a couple of weeks ago I'm not at all happy that it already needs warranty work or with the service department where I purchased it can I take it to any forest river dealer or does it have to be a palomino dealer thanks mark

  • Who is your dealer? As I also live in Michigan, might be able to give you a reference to a better one, if I knew where you live and who you went to.
  • What type of issues are you having? For items such as fridge, a/c unit, awning, furnace, water heater, toilet, etc. you can take it to most RV repair centers rather than to a dealer. Those items are covered under their own manufactures warranty such as Dometic or Norcold rather than the RV's manufacture. Thus, you do not have to take it to a dealer. Most RV shops will handle component warranties.

You still have to go to a dealer for service on the trailer itself, walls, roof, plumbing, slides etc.
  • Contact your warranty rep for Columbus and discuss with them. You may have the best luck taking it to a dealer who handles Forest River products, but not the Palomino line.
  • That is a question to address to the manufacturer, but even if they say yes be prepared for a dealer where you did not purchase to put you at the end of the line for service. He will take care of his own customers first and I do not blame him.
