Warranty For Life???

I am in the market for a new Fifth Wheel. I have been shopping the different dealers in and around the New Orleans/Baton Rouge/Hammond Louisiana area and have some idea of what I want.

One dealer is offering "Warranty For Life" on their new units.

The other dealers say that this is a scam, and has a bunch of hoops to jump through in order to actually use the warranty. They also say that you have to pay a bunch of money for this warranty, and that it actually doesn't cover much.

Do any of you have any experience with the Warranty For Life programs being offered at some dealers?

Thanks,

  • No such thing as a free lunch. You will pay more and it will have LOTS of very small print.

Ask to see the "warranty "policy and read it in detail.

  • Agreed. I know you pay for the warranty. Just like buying an extended service plan on your car. My questions come in based on what the competitor dealers were telling me... that the warranty for life 'says' it covers almost everything but when it comes time to actually USE the warranty, they find a way to NOT cover most things.

  • As a senior member, you've been around enough to know there's no free lunch. Especially in an industry so full of poor quality and dealer scams.
