Our previous 2000 Coachmen TT had a separate switch for the electric that looked like a household switch that had a red indicator light that showed the electric side was on. When you turned on the gas side a small red light would come on. When the burner lit then the red light would turn green. Wish my 2004 was like this. - Our_PlaceExplorerOur older (1993) motorhome worked that way, switch on-water heater on if water heater fails to ignite red light comes on. Then we would have to turn it off then right back on and you could hear it light.

As Gary said, it only comes on if there's an ignition problem.
If it stays on then you have a problem.
We had had both type switches for our water heater our last trailer switch light only came when there was an issue (pilot went out etc & was relighting)................... Our current water heater light switch is always on when you turn on the switch.............
Interesting, what brand and year is your WH?

- BusaGuyExplorerCould just be a faulty switch.
