- Swamp_ManExplorerI am still alive but then again, why take chances? I was told the white hose has a virgin vinyl liner while the rubber hoses do not. Various rubbers are made by blending various chemicals with the rubber for strength, longivity, and so on. As for the white hose getting dirty, I connect the ends, wash them with dish washing liquid that I wash our plates with, let them dry while hooking up, and store them. Once every couple months, I give the inside a chlorine bath with bleach. I can still remember drinking our of a garden hose...
- Splashers3ExplorerWater-bug had it right.....I like the "White" theory. BTW, after working outside in 90+ temps, I'm not afraid to grab the green garden hose.....
- mustangglpExplorerCalifornia is very knowledgeable on this kind of thing we have a prop 65 sticker on every restaurant and grocery store that warns you're going to get cancer and all kinds of things going in there why other states don't know this is beyond me :h Sarcasm
google prop 65 - Jim_and_BarbExplorerI may be off but it is my understanding the diffrence is the color . However the use is diffrent. You are more likely to wash your rig with green yellow or blue indiffrent to color. But you are not likely to use your white hose to wash out your sewer hose, and have the little water dropplets back splash on or in your hose when you place it on the ground. So with all that mouth full said. It is a sanitary issue and that is why we pay special ATTN: to the white hose. That also falls along the line of why we weare disposible gloves when we dump. Happy camping / travels !

I know that "Virgin Wool" comes from the sheep that run the fastest, but where does virgin rubber come from? - blkdodgeExplorer" used virgin rubber "
Oh nevermind :E - Captain_ObviousExplorerMy wife is sensitive to water taste, so I bought a mythical white hose - there have been no complaints about water taste since.
- DutchmenSportExplorerIn my opinion, the only difference is the price. Make it white, call it an RV hose and slap a higher price on it. For what you pay for one 15 foot white hose, you can buy 4 - 50 foot hoses from the Dollar Store! As far as wear and tear? Face it, the first time the white hose is drug across the ground, it's dirty! Taste? Just put a small PUR water filter on your RV kitchen sink. That will eliminate any taste.
- jetboater454ExplorerI thought the white or blue water hoses used virgin rubber where the other ones used some recycled rubber.

Those shrinking hoses aren't suggested for RV's either.
Thanks for the advice. Was wondering about those expanding hoses you see on TV. They take up a lot less room.
