WATER LEAK IN THE OVERHEAD

1. Been raining like cats and dogs all night and all day here so I decided to check on the RV. I opened the bathroom door and discovered a puddle of water on the floor and I noticed that it was dripping from the ceiling where two pieces of ceiling material come together. Do you suppose a little DICOR sealant on the roof will fix the problem, or am I looking at something a little more serious?
  • 1. The leak was coming through the vent tube for the black tank. Cleaned it up and recaulked it. Hopefully all should be good. Thanks to all who chimed in...
  • Nothing worse than finding that. The only way you will know is to climb up on the roof and check it out. Look at every square inch of caulk around each roof opening. If your antenna is nearby pull up the coaxial cable rubber boot. Water can get in there sometimes. Have a tube of dicor ready. It will only adhere when the surfaces are dry. Remember, water leaks can travel a fair distance before dripping inside, so look outside the leak area as well.
There also could be water in the ceiling cavity which is not a good thing. You may want to remove ceiling panel and dry things out.
    Good luck
  • Dicore can be used to stop the leak but from what you are saying, it may well not be directly above where it is coming in the camper .... with Pink Panther insulation, once it gets wet it can stay wet for a long time .... mold/mildew can easily result .... it would be wise to do whatever is necessary to make sure it dries out
