The fitting where my pump attaches to the fresh water tank is leaking. Its a little weird because it only seems to leak when the fresh tank is really full. When it is real full, I can see the water bead up at the point where the fitting that is inserted into the tank turns 90 degrees and creates a fitting for the water. I've pumped out some of the water still shows full on the meterand the leak has slowed down. When filling the tank, it didn't leak until it was real full.
Even though it's leaking, Is the fitting still tight to the tank?
The tank will leak more as it fills up because the pressure inside the tank increases as it fills up
Every 2.31 ft of water will creat a pressure of 1 psi
If just patching the leak was my intent
I would drain the tank
clean and dry the fitting area
Apply a 2 part water proofing epoxy/sealant around the fitting/tank area
Yes, I believe the fitting is still tight to the tank. I will confirm before I do anything. Ideally, I'd like to remove the fitting and replace it, but I don't know if thats possible? It seems like I'd need something to break the hold of the glue without creating bigger problems.
Is there a particular product you have in mind for the water proofing coating?
Thanks!
