We bought a brand spankin' new 2014 Chevy Silverado yesterday! This whole adventure thing really is going to happen! It's everything we need to pull the 5th wheel we plan to get (Heartland Gateway 3650 BH).It is a Duramax diesel dually crew cab with the Allison 6-speed transmission. Congraduations, very nice truck. Love the duallys.With that truck your camper choices are endless.Your boys are a great age to enjoy family camper trips.Our kids had a blast.

Congrads on new truck setup - you should be all set now for for your new bigger trailer. Was looking at google image photos of your planned trailer and it seems to have slides all the way around it haha.. Bigger however is not always better especially with boys your age...Camping next to a creek bed back on a forest road trail has its merits as well.You might want to add a much smaller trailer setup to your trailer lineup just for those special Boys days... My kids that are grown up now still has many of stories about our early tent camping days passing on to their kids. My big trailer sits in our camp back yard and we run the roads in the off-road POPUP all the time. Most of our camping is off the power grid.. I never could get my bigger truck to pull our 5th wheel trailer the salemans said "you will not have problems pulling this baby with your F150" We got a couple hundred miles on it before parking it in the back yard.Everytime the grandkids come over they want me to setup the POPUP for them. They like hanging out in the bigger trailer ok but really-really like the POPUP... They will pick the tent beds over the real nice bedroom in the fifth wheel everytime here.Actually so do I hehe... Also my F150 gets almost the same gas mileage pulling my off-road POPUP trailer or not. I can count on 18MPG but sometimes get up to 20-21MPG sometimes. Roy Ken

You did RESEARCH before you bought your TV, you need to understand this is NOT ALLOWED by a Newbie, you need to return you truck to the dealer and ask for a 1500 to replace it.#2. Once you have completed #1, you are to post on the Forum that you have a beautiful 1500 TV that you would like to tow a Heartland Gateway 3650 BH and ask if the TV can handle it!#3 Then we give all the advice to go get the correct TV, or a smaller trailer!!!:B[COLOR=]On a serious note;Welcome to the Forum!! :)VERY nice TV, I would have suggested a Ram, but I am partial to them.That Heartland looks very nice also, should have many great times with that and the TV!!!

Roy KenRoy....we are actually becoming full-timers. We are going to LIVE in the 5th wheel so we would really prefer our boy's to have an actual bedroom. I also LOVE tent camping, and thankfully, our 5th wheel's basement will have plenty of storage so we can store our tent...so whenever we want, we can pull it out, put it up, and sleep in it when we want. I grew up with pop-up campers, and absolutely loved them too for the occasionally weekend camping trip. I, however, could not live in one with 4 people. We have been searching and searching and researching and researching on what will best suit our family. We are really excited about getting the Heartland Gateway with the bunkhouse.

Did they activate the On-Star for you. If they did, you've got to go ahead and get the On-Star app on your phone (at least for the 6 months free). We did that, and I've had a blast with it so far. If you've never done it before, the app reads your vehicle, mileage, oil consumption, location, plus it let's you lock-unlock your doors, start and turn of your engine, and blow your horn ... a most fun thing to do when at a parking lot and someone walks by your vehicle!

We're taking advantage of the free 6 months, but for $29 a month there after, I don't know if it's really worth it or not. By then, the thrill of the new toy will probably be over, and we will most likely cancel then.

You will LOVE that Chevy...we tow a 17,000 pound Heartland Landmark with our 2011...nothing like having plenty of truck!! Enjoy!!

If you let the OnStar laps for a few months they come back and offer it at about 1/2 price.
