weight distributing

We are not new to travel trailers/fifth wheels but we are planning on buying a travel trailer toy hauler so we can make a move to Montana and be able to camp along the way. The toy hauler we are looking at is the Forest River Vengeance Rogue 31V with a GVWR of #11,450 and a tongue weight of #1,250. Should we be considering a tongue weight capacity of #1,200 or #1,500? Our tow vehicle is a 2005 Ford F350 truck (6.0 liter diesel,crew cab,long bed & 4x4) with a factory hitch (12,500 GTW 1,250 GTW with weight distributing. Thank you for your time and assistance.

    My trailer is a bit heavier. 1870 tongue weight and 14900 trailer weight. I went to a Draw Tite Ultra 5 hitch with 18k towing and 2500lb tongue weight along with a 20k Blue Ox Sway Pro hitch. The 2k bars are a bit stiff, but its a well built package.

    I would consider the Blue Ox with 2000# bars. I bet your TW will heavier than you are currently thinking. I have one and it is great!

    I completely agree with lamopar, toy hauler tongue weights are often off and can be more impacted by loading than most other trailers.

    Before you decide on which bars to get make sure you get an accurate tounge weight. The listed weight has almost always been off from my experience and when I spoke to an engineer at Reese he wouldn't even give me an answer until I weighed my tounge weight. Well the factory called it at 1630 but when I weighed it on a scale it was 1950. I went with a 1700 lbs bar as that was the heavyist they had and it has been working fine for 7 years. I just recommend you weigh the tounge weight with propane in the tanks fist.

    might want to consider the lesser bars and add air bags. Might be a better ride. Just a thought

    Go with the 1500 bars, you will have a rough ride. 1200 bars smother but less weight transfer-

    Loaded with all your stuff...a toy hauler...I'd definitely go with the 1500 bars.
