- RbertalottoExplorerIf you really wanted to get crazy....you could install the hitch attachment to the front of your truck and "push" a 5th wheel into place, just like you can do with a bumper-pull.....
Now if they REALLY wanted to make that device the ultimate, the wheels on the dolly could be "driven" by an electric motor. You could position a 5th wheeler without a tow vehicle! - 4x4FFExplorer

I would think that with the ability to jackknife further and being able to loosen the steer wheels it might be easier.

Why, just a longer tow vehicle is all??? - buta4ExplorerThe OP's PIC - that towing system must be a bear in backing up into a campsite. :E

This has got to be one the the coolest inventions I've seen in a long time! Well done!
And for Bumper Pull, this is amazing. Uses the trailers brakes to steer the trailer to the hitch ball...........and now a laser has been added to make bumper pull hook up even easier

$1250 seems like a steal! - JIMNLINExplorer III

This system adds lots of wheelbase to the tow vehicle so it should result in better sway control of the whole rig.
Now if it has it's own axle weight rating sticker...
The automatedsafetyhitch.co, web says 6300 lb load and 300000 draw. They show 8 lug wheels which = 7k axle on their delux model dolly.
With a 3/4 ton truck with a 6200 RAWR and a 6000 FAWR plus the 7000k dolly axle braking = 19500 lbs of braking performance.
Now add a triaxle trailers 6k axles = 18000 lb + 19500 = 37500 lbs of braking. No wonder they advertise much better braking performances.
They show a heavy duty model with 10k-11k lb axles for really heavy stuff.
Interesting that the dolly wheel turns as the rig goes around a corner which negates the trailer cutting corners. - notevenExplorer IIIThis system adds lots of wheelbase to the tow vehicle so it should result in better sway control of the whole rig.

Truck's owner said he actually =gained= turning radius slightly, because the hitch kicks outside the turn, somewhat similar to a bumper hitch.
Also, as I said before, he had about 50 gallons each, water and diesel, under the deck.
Lyle - fj12ryderExplorer IIIThis product doesn't really look new and different. I mean they had them for that movie which was some years ago and variations have been around for quite some time. They've just never gained any popularity for some reason. Maybe it was justified, maybe not.
