I retired at 55 because I had a heart attack at 51 and a 5 bypass surgery. I was lucky enough that it didn't do major damage. I was also lucky to have a good retirement plan that guarantees my income each month with an annual cost of living increase. That was 11 yrs ago and am enjoying life to the fullest with our kids and grandkids. Everyone has to decide when and how they want to retire based on their own set of circumstances.
