I did that a few years ago when I installed a ShurFlo Revolution waterpump - Also slid some foam insulation around the PEX plumbing that was laying directly on the floor. This combination practically silenced it to the point, I thought it was not working.
I found 2 places where the rigid pipes were touching also and placed foam between them. I'm really happy with the results. Next is an upgraded pump. The current one is 8 yrs old so it may be time for some preventative work. All I do is dry camp so losing a pump is not acceptable.
Keep the pump for a spare, my old pump is riding around in a new home, someone else's to be more exact. Their's took a dump and they were really bummed, until I pulled out a pump that fit right in with minor tweaks.
