Is there a way to post pics from imgur from our phones or tablets? - rcpd34ExplorerPicked up a never used Central Vac on Craigslist!
- 1L243Explorer IIMaybe you saw my post above about the BAL Spare Tire Carrier? I don't usually Rat myself out but I have to confess just in case some poor sap with the same Coleman 300tq wants to mount a spare tire.
After spending all day admiring my BAL install I was running wires from the trailer to the battery on the tongue of the trailer. Under the trailer on my creeper I am working my way towards the tongue....What do I see? Yep, a spare tire winch sitting right there that came with the trailer. I never knew about it and it was not pointed out during the walk through. Oh well it could have been worse there could have been a spare tire on it! All that said I don't think I would have wanted the extra tongue weight but probably would not have went through the BAL install if I had know it was there... So, look before you leap! - 1L243Explorer III installed a BAL Spare Tire Rack today on my 2017 Coleman 300tq Toy Hauler.
I ordered it off of Amazon and was glad to see that it was shipped in a box some reviews from different supplier had shipped them open with missing parts.
I have areas under my Toy Hauler that have exposed I Beam and parts where the I Beam is completely covered. It makes a difference on what model you order. I ordered model 28217 for open I Beam. I used a floor jack to position and center the Rack for mounting support plates.
Pivot side support plate
Support Plate Handle side
The bolts to fasten the support plates are not provided. I used 5/16" x 1" with flat and lock washers. Self tapping bolts can also be used. Before drilling make sure no wires or gas lines are running along the I Beam.
Square rack between the cross beams. When measuring take care support plates are two different sizes.
When removing the spare the rack drops down and telescopes out so you can reach the spare.
Locked in up posistion
Tucked up out of the way can hardly be seen.
