What do you think about this tongue reinforcement?

If you want more penetration just a little more gap.Flux core to much danger of trapped flux in weld.We welded pipe
with bare wire.Penetration comes with heat speed.I'm speaking of all size large and schedule.(I know the experts here will shot me down)
