What hose is needed to convert to 100 lb Propane tank

Was able to find a 12' hose for the 100 LB tank to the RV duplex regulator valve locally at a reasonable price. 100 lb tank delivered to site for $99.95. They will replace with full cylinder on call on site. Pay a little more per gallon for on site delivery but the convenience is worth it. Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Sorry, I didn't see this sooner. We got notice we were heading for Dodge City for the Winter and had to pack up and move early last week. Then find our Extend-a-stay to hook up to one of the CG's 100# tanks. Which we only paid $60 for a fill, no charge for tank rental.

I had a 100# tank (leased) at my house after I bought it. After a couple of years with only my stove using gas (which I had told the company when I leased it) they canceled my lease due to lack of volume of gas used and took their bottle back.
I purchased a new one at Home Depot. I took it to a local propane seller and had them purge and fill it. They do not have to weigh it, they measure the liquid quantity that goes in (just like pumping gas). I have 2 30's on my trailer and a new one for my work heater for the garage or 'tent' when I work on my truck outside in the winter. I think that I paid $80 for my 100#. Like was posted above, a welding supply, or True-Value type hardware store should have everything you need.

The hose was $30 with all the fittings from the factory done properly and sealed

Just go to your local propane shop and order a factory hose. I order a 15 foot one and hook up this big tank all fall for hunting season with no problem

Several reasons:

1.) They are currently 1400 miles away
2.) They have been closed all weekend
3.) Last year they wanted $70 plus for their hose

You start making up hoses/fittings (and they leak), its on your shoulders and maybe an installation that the propane dealer will not fill if he feels its unsafe or not code.

Ok, all you need is three things. First of all, a POL fitting which screws into the threads on the inside of the valve on your 100 lbs tank. Next is a section (however long you need it) of HIGH pressure LP hose. Third is the male end of a ACME connection. Using yellow PVC tape (not white it is for water) wrap the connections and tighten them so you don't have any leaks. The POL fitting goes into the valve on the 100 lbs cylinder and the male end of the ACME connection goes into one of the green connectors on your regulator pigtail. Leave the other tank connected. Set the regulator to point at the connection with the 100 lbs tank. The regulator will switch over when the 100 lbs tank is empty. Send me a PM and I will send you some pictures and suppliers.

another option is go to a well stocked gas supplier (or welding supplier) they have all kinds of neat fittings (in some cases) you can have an adapter made to fit your existing tank hoses to extend them to go to the 100lb, and just take them off to switch back,,, put away for the next time you need them.

That was my initial thinking. Disconnect the hose from the regulator to the 7.5 Gallon tank at the 7.5 gallon tank end and then insert a hose extender from that open connector to the connector on the 100 lb tank. Then when I want to just run off the 7.5 gallon tank remove the hose extender. Seems to me like a simple solution but.... no body sells a hose extender, at least on the internet, with those two mating OPD connections on it. So I must be missing something? Is there a technical reason why that doesn't work?
