This isn't necessarily quite on this topic but it is definitely related.
A number of years ago we toured the HH factory in KS. Just by chance they were closed for vacation. A electrical engineer just happened to be there and took us under his wing. We did not get the $.05, $.10, $.25 cent tour but the whole hog $.50 cent tour, he was PROUD of the product that NUWA made there.
During one of our conversations I made the comment that these larger units were not necessarily made for the young family with 4 children. They were made for us Sr. folks (stiff or replaced joints, missing fingers, arthritis etc.) for extended or FT occupancy.
I made the following suggestion that whenever their designers, purchasing agent have a new part or even when changing vendors or a making new model they do the following.
Make a unit with that part, then take that person or others, on one hand tape the fore finger and the middle finger together, on the other hand tape the middle and ring fingers together, wear a back brace/kidney brace so they can't bend easily, tape one ankle, wear a "walking foot cast" on the other foot, you get idea.
Then, have them unhook the unit from the Tow Vehicle, level, stabilize, open and close cabinets and storage doors, hook up the fresh water, hookup drain hoses, drain and flush all tanks, move furniture inside etc. etc. In other words mimic all the actions that a RVer goes through.
Now back to the OPs original question. I have to move one of my recliners in order to move the LR slide in. But that was one of my choices. 99% of our RVing is at FS or COE CGs were sometimes the space length is limited. HH also made the same floor plan in a unit that was 2 foot longer in the LR were you didn't have to move one recliner to move the LR slide. Like I said we would rather be able to get into the sometime shorter FS space.
