OP is looking for a new 5er, and there are alot of dumb things manuf do.... but here is list of what has been important to us:
Slide access as mentioned already
Recliner being moved to pull slide in, not fun
Large LCD TV on adjustable mount to face audience
Heater duct where camode is... brrr (since added)
Adequate pantry storage
Adequate wardrobe storage
Pots / pans storage
Counter prep space
Full size microwave
Full size oven (lately they are trying to introduce Playschool size ovens)
Pass thru storage (nice if has laundry chute also)
Full length bed (had to make extender), and access to make sheets
Genny / dual batt storage cabinet
Extended pin hitch
Lockable utility doors (fresh water)
Adaption for axle lift kit (4x4 trucks are tall)
Hide-a-bed if guests or kids, not "excuse for a bed"
Large grey water tank (haggled all tanks larger against competitive model)
Receptacle that your coffee pot can reach on counter (since added)
Progressive Dynamic converter / chrg wizard
Mentioned but tp, paper towel, bath towel storage locations (gonna be do-it-yourself)
Unlikely but quality tires would be a bonus
Etc etc etc
