- old_guyExplorernothing wrong with Vaseline or silicone
- downtheroadExplorerWell, if you want a true O-ring and valve lubricant then spring for this. We used this in the scuba industry for the O-ring seals on very expensive underwater camera housings.
Click Here. - TrackrigExplorer IIDon't forget to lube the slide rods occasionally with silicone also.

That is what I am gonna use if I have to ever face that issue again. - bob213ExplorerStay away from petroleum based products like Vaseline on all new gaskets and o rings. They are not made of the same materials of old and will get brittle. We have an old undersink water filter that says to put Vaseline on the o ring. The new water filter for the trailer specifically states not to use Vaseline. Toilet seals get hard with Vaseline also. Plumbers grease or silicone paste are the preferred products by the mfgs.

That would probably work if your diet included a lot of grease and oils! :B
