What portable Air Compressor to buy?

I need Santa to bring me a new portable air compressor to maintain my Fiver tire pressures. Any suggestions. It must be a portable unit.
  • I bought a Porter Cable 150 psi for our Southwind tires. It works great.
  • While you are waiting try searching this Forum for `air compressor' and read on.
  • I work construction, production framing and if it isn't a big gas compressor guys will always run Porter Cable pancake compresssors. Hardly ever see any other brand.

I've got a few of them. When they stop making pressure people will toss them aside not knowing a $8.00 leather piston ring is all that's worn out.
  • I like my ViAir 88P. It clamps direct to battery. Avoid any that plug into a 12v socket, they take forever to do the job.
  • I have a craftsman 125# for my 110# GY's. It could barely make the pressure. The new 5er has J GY's 125# went with a Dewalt 6gal 165 psi.
  • My research indicated the Pancake style Dewalt AC did a great job and held up well.
I bought one and ended up using it a lot more than I planned (was hired to do two remodels and some other work) and it has performed flawlessly.
Home Depot sells a lot of their pancake units but they get lousy reviews.
