Our Silverback Quad Bunk has been a great unit for us - 9th season. Our youngest child is entering into her senior year of HS, middle child is a sophomore in college, and oldest is a senior in college. Here's our dilema as I look to possibly upgrade:Trade value on our 2008 is 15K. Keep current unit and wait about 5 years when we become empty nesters to upgrade.Trade up to a similar model and then again in 5-6 years to "emtpy nester" model.Reasons to get out of our current model: no second air, 30A trips circuit frequently, missing some "fun" items on new units (automatic levelers, etc).1. Trade mine for similar updated model, then trade that for "empty nest" model = projected to cost me my unit plus 50K by 2023.2. Keep mine and wait 5-6 years and trade up (less trade value) = 50k in 2023.I hope that was somewhat clear. Obvious here is the market prices of trades and selected models. All things being equal, what would you do?

Seems to me that upgrading twice in five years is an exercise in losing money. Get the current model fixed so it doesn't blow fuses anymore ( you can't run the a/c and toaster and hair dryer at the same time) and keep it. Lots can happen in five years to upset a great plan.added later: don't fret. even with a 50 amp circuit the girls will find a way to blow the internal c/b as you described.

I'm agree with your approach, you hold for a reasonable length of time. No law says you have to buy an RV and keep it for 20 years (as many choose to do.). The family changes flow with the RV changes.

Option#3 Get the empty nester model NOW. How often do your late teen/early 20's, children really want to hang out with mom & dad?????If the kids really want to go...BUY A TENT. I tell people our trailer sleeps two. We have let our adult son sleep on the folded down table, but mostly we bought for our comfort....not theirs. they had their years in the tent & pop-up when I hauled junk to amuse them.. OUR TURN.

I ran a separate 15/20amp power inlet and fix the water heater so I switch to it and power off the pole convenience outlet. Allowed more power on the 30amp input to run "things" without tripping a breaker. Chris

Have to laugh a bit as we are in same boat. Oldest child is on her own and getting married soon. #2 is 16 and only 2 years left of school. Coach IMO has severed us well and and it's getting where it's outlived it's orig intent. So we've looked at new floorplans as to what the DW and I want/ fits our needs going forward. In as much as I'd like to get a new coach next spring, seems the DW comes up with something that takes the wind out of the sails. So keeping fingers crossed. Current coach would be great for a family w/ 2-3 young ones much like OP.

OK, I have said it before and I will say it again, it is about the floor plan! If your current rig fits your needs and are satisfied with the floor plan, then by all means keep it! If what you have is giving you problems, I.e. Not satisfied with layout, etc. by all means trade it and get something that fits YOUR needs!! You need to be happy when you use it, even a small "glitch" will become a major problem down the road every time you use it!

Maybe teach, or threaten, the girls about power usage in the short term. Don't beat yourself up for the decision you made at the time. Wait to purchase the new unit and take advantage of all the new upgrades that come along.

IMO, RV build and quality will be much better in coming years. I'd wait.

Back and forth this thread goes....
There isn't an issue with the 30A. There is an issue with three daughters running fans, toaster, AC, microwave, etc at the same time. I had a chance when I ordered it to go 2nd AC and 50A but didn't. Do not make that mistake again!
