Out of curiosity do have the manf. dry pin wt or your own dry pin wt, figures?
It may help new folks understand real world payloads vs. what the brochure specs reference.
I purchased the 5er "brand new" off the dealers lot in October of 07'. I had a brochure that showed an "unloaded pin weight" of 2800#, "unloaded weight of 5er was published at 14,440#....I weighed the unit shortly after I drove off the lot with it, (did have two 40# propane tanks filled)...Been some years back, but weight of the 5er was 14,500#, and pin weight, at that time was 2850#...(going by memory).
Since then 5er has a roof top satellite on it (HD, Winegard), and up front added a combo Splendide washer/dryer combo...
So, loaded to "JUST UNDER" 16,000#, my pin weight is actually 3340# at this time...."right at", 21% of my 5er's weight...and 530# more than an empty pin weight number. Not that bad of a number given by HR back in 06'....I just knew not to go by that.
I don't understand why people insist on using "empty", "dry" or "unloaded" 5er or TT weights and/or tongue/pin weights, and possibly base purchasing a TV on those numbers:h I understand that one can see how much they can load to by looking at empty weight versus GVW, but one would think it would be more realistic to purchase a TV based more on GVW of a TT or 5er.
