Well, I agree that bearings do not consume grease. I also agree that modern greases do not break down (unless you're traveling really, really fast all the time!). What I will assert though is that bearings and their races will put contaminants in the grease and over time this will wear out bearings faster. That's why one should repack, or (EZ-Lube) replace/refill the grease in your hubs. Just finished doing two on our '10 Montana that I don't think had ever had the hubs serviced at all, and appears to have been lightly used before we bought it last year. The grease coming out of the EZ-Lube hubs was completely black as opposed to yellow/red/or whatever color fresh grease was put in there originally. I'm going to try doing the other two tomorrow before our next snow storm . .
